Ⅰ．はじめに
外傷性内頸動脈閉塞症は，Verneuil（1872）31）によって初めて報告された．以来，脳血管撮影法の普及にともない，多くの報告が相次いでなされた．それらによると，本症は，外見上軽微と思われる外傷といえども油断のならないこと，受傷後，潜伏期間をもって発症し，硬膜外血腫を疑わしめる徴候を示すこと，いったん発症した場合には，予後はきわめて不良であることなどが，一般に認められている．
著者らは，頭蓋底骨折に合併した3症例を報告するとともに，文献上集計しえた頭頸部非穿通性外傷に合併した74例2-11，13-23，25-30，32-36）をもとに，本症の臨床的特徴について考察を加えたので報告する．
Three cases of traumatic thrombosis of the internal carotid artery clue to head injury with basal skull fracture were reported.
The mechanism of thrombosis, the symptomatologic characteristics and the prognosis were discussed with reference to the data the in literature.
