I．はじめに

　Herpes simplex encephalitis（H-S-E）は散発性の激症脳炎でその発生病理はvirusとhostとの関係，感染経路などまだ不明な点が多い。本邦で診断の確定している剖検症例は安東ら^3,33）の1例，青山ら^1,45）の2例，倉田ら^25）の1例（本稿症例2）の4例である。H-S-Eはその現象形態から新生児全身感染症，脳髄に広汎な病巣を示す乳幼児移行型，大脳辺縁系に病巣の局在する成人型などがある。従来の報告では全身感染型や成人型の剖検は比較的多いが，乳幼児移行型は少ない。われわれは1歳5か月，女児。1歳6か月，男児の2症例を剖検し臨床所見，病理所見なかんずくその病巣分布，感染経路などについて考察を試みたので報告する。

　Two infantile patients, 1 year 5 months (case 1) and 1 year 6 months old (case 2), with central nervous system disease caused by the herpes virus infection were observed clinically, pathologically and electron microscopically. These infants were almost of similar age. Patients and their families had no herpetic illness in past history. In these cases the diseases began with gastroenteric and respiratory symptoms and followed fever with r-hemiplegia, r-hemilateral convulsion, status epilepticus and coma.
