Abstract 文献概要

　大脳皮質聴覚野発見の歴史に始まり，一次聴覚野の定義，一次聴覚野での周波数表示にっいて解説し，従来の単純な周波数表示説に対する問題点を提起した。次に，周波数変調音に対する応答，時間情報処理，ピッチ情報表示について論じた。静的な周波数分析機能はそれほど重要ではなく，音刺激の動的な時間パターンを処理する機能の重要性を強調した。さらに，従来の聴覚研究の陥りやすかった問題点を指摘し，今後の課題を論じた。

A historical episode for a discovery of the auditory cortex is first described. The definition of the primary auditory cortex is discussed and then problems of the concept explaining the simple tonotopic organization are pointed out. Then, findings on cortical responses to frequency modulated sounds, temporal information processing and pitch information representation are discussed. Data indicate that performing conventional static frequency analysis appears to be much less important. Cortical functions to process dynamic temporal patterns of sound stimuli are strongly emphasized.
