　本稿では最近の三つのトピックスを紹介した。第一は機械刺激受容機構に関わるチャネルのクローニングである。有毛細胞の機械受容機構に直接関わるイオンチャネルのクローニングは未だに成功していないが，ショウジョウバエの触毛では機械受容器チャネルがクローニングされた。機械刺激受容の方向性，順応特性などの面で脊椎動物・内耳・有毛細胞の性質を反映している。第二は哺乳類・内耳・外有毛細胞のモーター蛋白のクローニングである。Prestin遺伝子でコードされるモーター蛋白は陰イオン輸送蛋白質と相同性があり細胞内の陰イオンC1^－あるいはHCO₃^-の存在下で膜電位に応じた非対称性の電荷分布を生ずるとともにモーターとしての性質を発揮する。第三は爬虫類・鳥類の有毛細胞で観察される膜電位振動の周波数がCa^2＋-activatedK＋チャネルのsplice変異体で決められている所見である。

Three recent topics are introduced in this review article. The first is the cloning of mechano-electrical transduction channel associated with the bristle of Drosophila. The second is the cloning of motor protein related to the length change of mammalian outer hair cells. The third is the finding of splice variants of Ca²⁺-activated K⁺ channels which are responsible for the membrane potential oscillation of hair cells in the turtle and in the chicken.
