慢性疼痛は急性疼痛の延長ではなく，また心因性疼痛という考えも誤りである。

慢性疼痛は器質的，機能的，心理的要因の重複した病態あるいは症候群として把握されるべきである。疼痛の心理的メカニズムについて，疼痛行動，システムズ・アプローチ，バイオフィードバック，デプレッションとの関連といった面より，われわれの考えを述べた。

It is a wrong idea to consider that chronic pain is neither elongation from acute pain nor psychogenic pain. Chronic pain should be considered either mixed medical conditions or syndromes of organic, functional and psychological factors. We state our views on the psychological mechanism of pain from an aspect in connection with pain behavior, systems approach, biofeedback and depression.
