　1986年5月から50歳より91歳までの前立腺肥大症患者43例にサドルブロックで経尿道的切除を行い，当日退院させてきた。新たな合併症も起こらず，1例の輸血もせず安全に施行できた。経費も在来の入院した場合よりも約70％軽減できた。

Ihave performed outpatient transurethral resection of prostate on 43 patients with BPH under the saddle block anesthesia since May, 1986. The patients who underwent this procedure ranged from 50 to 91 years of age and thier avarage age was 70 years old. The resected prostatic adenoma ranged from 3 to 39 g and the average weight was 12.1 g. Transurethral prostatic resection on outpatient basis has been accepted enthusiastically by patients and their family. Patients usually stay in the bed of the office for 6-7 hours postoperatively and then discharged with no complication on their own.
