　はじめに

　類基底細胞癌（basaloid squamous cell carci-noma）は，1986年Wainら^1）によって初めて報告された扁平上皮癌の一亜型であり，頭頸部領域を中心に上気道や上部消化管に好発する。欧米では1991年WHOの頭頸部領域における組織分類に記載が追加され，臨床的に高率なリンパ節転移および遠隔転移をきたす予後不良な疾患として認知されている。しかし，本邦では頭頸部癌取扱い規約に記載がないように，類基底細胞癌という組織型自体の認知度が低く，好発部位である頭頸部における報告は少ない。

　今回われわれは，下咽頭に発生した類基底細胞癌の1例を経験したので，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

A 83-year-old man presented with basaloid squamous cell carcinoma of the hypopharynx (T3NOM0). Basaloidsquamous cell carcinoma was first reported by Wain in 1986 as having a poor prognosis. In Japan, only 8 cases of basaloid squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck have been reported to date.

This diagnosed was made by endoscopic biopsy of the hypopharynx and he was treated by radical surgery and post operative radiation. The patient has been free from disease for 6 months after surgery.
