I．はじめに

　頸部の回転または伸展によって生ずるめまいをいわゆる"頸性めまい"（cervical vertigo）と呼んでいる。この発症原因にはさまざまなものが含まれており，したがってこれは単一疾患ではなく症候群として考えるのが妥当である。

　今回われわれは典型的な頸性めまいの2症例を経験した。これらの症例に対して椎骨動脈撮影（vertebral artery angiography：VAG）を行ったところ，首を回した位置で椎骨動脈（vertebral artery）の明らかな異常が証明された。すなわち椎骨動脈の高度な循環障害に起因する頸性めまいであった。

Two cases of typical cervical vertigo inducedby rotation of the head and neck were presented. Angiography of the vertebro-basilar arteries re-vealed unilateral congenital narrowing of the ver-tebral arteries, with a considerable difference of right and left blood flow through the vertebral arteries even under normal condition. Blood flow through the vertebral artery on the side of domi-nant flow was markedly diminished on rotation of the head and neck. The cause of vertigo in these two cases appeared to be caused by stenosis or obstruction of the vertebral artery with resul-tant disturbance of the cerebral blood flow.
