Ⅰ．はじめに

　メニエール病に対し，柴苓湯が有効であるという論文は枚挙にいとまがない^1,2）。柴苓湯は小柴胡湯と五苓散の合方で，小柴胡湯の証に浮腫，嘔吐，口渇，発汗などの水腫，水毒を伴う例に有効である。一方，メニエール病はその原因の80％が内リンパ腫と考えられていることから，柴苓湯のメニエール病への効果が期待されている^3）。

　今回，柴苓湯が著効したメニエール病の1例を経験し，柴苓湯がどのような薬効でメニエール病に有効なのか生薬レベルで検討したので報告する。

　A 49-year-old male was suffered from repeated attacks of vertigo for many years. Many recipes were prescribed,but attacks of vertigo were continued. After Saireito preparation was prescribed,dizziness was inproved for 6 months. Saireito is a combination of two kampo medicines. Greisan and Shosaikoto. Greisan containing,Alismatis Rhizoma,Atractylodis Lanceae,Rhizoma,Polyporus,Hoelen and Cinnamomi Cortex. They have the effect of di-hydration on the hydrop of inner ear.

　Shosaikoto containing Bupleuri Radix,Pinelliae Tuber,Scutellariae Radix,Paeoniae Radix,Zingiberis Rhizoma. These herbal drugs have the effects of anti-histamine,anti-allergic,anti-inflammation and anti-stress. For that reason Sairei-to is effective to Ménière's disease.
