Ⅰ．はじめに

　鼻出血は，出血部位によって前鼻出血，上鼻出血，後鼻出血に分類される。これらのうち前鼻出血は出血点の確認，止血処置が比較的容易であるが，後鼻出血は出血点の確認が困難であり，止血に難渋することが多い。これらの症例に対し，硬性内視鏡を用いることにより良好な成績が得られたので，その有用性を報告する。

The medical records of 37 hospitalized patients with epistaxis at Aizawa Hospital between April,2002 and May,2004 were reviewed. Visualization of the bleeding vessel is a key to efficient management of epistaxis. All patients had their nasal cavity examined by endoscopy. Eleven patients（29.7％）had bleeding at the posterior portion of the inferior nasal meatus and 5 patients（13.5％）at the postero-superior portion of the nasal septum. Seven patients（18.9％）required a postnasal packing（Bellocq's tampon）. No patient underwent surgical arterial ligation or arterial embolization. Endoscopically guided treatment was useful in all patients.
