　1971年から1987年の16年間に，病理組織学的に眼瞼癌と診断され放射線治療を行い，5年以上経過した30症例の予後を検討した。

　30例の病理診断は扁平上皮癌17例，基底細胞癌6例，脂腺癌6例，未分化癌1例であった。重複癌は6例であった。30例中28例に局所治癒がみられた。現在までの生在例は18例で，生存期間は平均9年8か月であった。死亡例は12例，眼瞼癌の全身転移による死亡例は2例で，いずれも放射線により眼瞼癌が治癒しなかった例である。8例は他因死，2例は死因不明である。再発例は4例あり，放射線照射後1年5か月から5年10か月で再発した。その後の手術または放射線追加により，局所治癒した。眼瞼癌の放射線治療は整容的に優れ，治癒が可能であるが，数年経過後の再発例があるため慎重な長期経過観察が必要である。

We reviewed 30 patients with primary eyelidcarcinoma treated by radiotherapy followed up for5 years or longer. Histopathologically, the seriescomprised squamous cell carcinoma 17 eyes, basalcell carcinoma 6, sebaceous carcinoma 6 and ana-plastic carcinoma 1. After surgical excision, exter-nal beam radiation was performed in all.Localcontrol was attained in 28 eyes. At the end of follow-up period, 18 patients were doing well and theother 12 were lost. Death was due to multiplemetastases from the eyelid carcinoma in 2 patients only who failed to achieve local control, due toother causes in 8 and due to unknown cause in 2.Metastasis to local lymph nodes developed in 8patients, of which 5 are doing well and 3 died fromother causes. One patient showed metastasis to thelung and lymph nodes. He was operated success-fully and is well for 15 years. Recurrence followingirradiation in 4 cases was managed either by sur-gery or further external beam irradiation.
