　水晶体核部の混濁程度を数量化して評価することを意図して行った。水晶体のScheimflugスリット像を筆者らの施設で開発した前眼部解析システムを用いて画像として取り出し，視軸上の前・後胎生核部の一区域の散乱光強度を測定し，両測定値の差を求めた。透明水晶体ではこの差はCTT単位で＋3〜−25までの範囲に分布したが，その80％は＋5〜−5の間にあり，加齢には関係しないものであった。臨床的に核混濁と診断されたものはすべて前・後部胎生核部の散乱光強度が後部のそれよりも高く，前・後部胎生核部の散乱光強度の差はCTT単位で0〜＋33の間にあった。核混濁程度の強くなるほど，この値は高くなっていた。

We tried to quantitate the opacification of the human lens nucleus. We recorded the Scheimflug image fo the lens and measured the scattering light intensity at the anterior and posterior borders of the fetal nucleus. The difference between the two values ranged from +3 to -25 CCT usits in 267 noncataractous subjects. The value rangedbetween +5% and -5%, in 80% of these cases. The values were independent of aging. The scatter-ing light was more intense in the anterior than in the posterior face of fetal nucleus in 18 eyes with nuclear cataract. The values ranged from 0 to 33 CCT units. The values were positively correlated with the subjective grading of nuclear opacifica-tion.
