　核白内障眼の視機能を具体的に把握する目的で，核混濁模型水晶体を試作し，混濁程度に伴う水晶体解像力の低下を分光透過率，空間周波数特性（MTF），および模型水晶体を通して得られる像から評価した。模型水晶体は2枚のガラスレンズを張り合わせ，中心の空洞部にラテックスの懸濁液を注入して作成した。混濁程度はScheimpflug画像からの散乱光強度測定により定量判定した。分光透過率は混濁程度の上昇に伴い低下する傾向を示したが，可視光域では程度Ⅲでも15％の低下しかみられなかった。MTFも混濁が増すにつれて低下を認め，混濁程度Ⅲ前後から顕著な低下傾向を示した。シミュレーション像からは，混濁程度Ⅱを越えるあたりから像のコントラスト，および明度の低下を認めた。核混濁（白濁）に伴う，視認性への影響は混濁程度Ⅲからと推測された。

In order to assess the visual function in nuclear cataract, we analyzed the resolution power of model lenses in terms of spectral transmission factor, modulation transfer function (MTF) and actual images. Optical glass was used as material for the model. Nuclear opacity was produced by suspension of latex particles injected into the cavity in the center of the model lens. The grade of opacity was quantitated by Scheimpflug image analysis. Spectral transmission factor decreased along with increase in opacity, down by 15% for grade 3 opacity. MTF decreased along with increase in opacity, paticularly in grade 3 opacity. Decrease in contrast and brightness in images was slight for grade 1 and 2 opacities and more pronounced for grade 3 opacity.
