　両眼先天白内障の手術施行例31例について眼振随伴の有無により2群に分け，視力予後に関係するいくつかの因子について検討した。眼振をともなわぬ群は発症が遅く，随伴する眼異常も少なく，手術および光学的矯正が遅れても予後は良好であった。眼振をともなう群は発症が早く，随伴する眼異常の頻度も高く，眼振が発生してから治療を施行しても予後は不良であった。眼振は白内障によるvisual deprivationにて起こるとの考えをもとに早期手術，早期光学的矯正を行い，眼振の発生をみなかった5例を報告した。

We evaluated the visual outcome of bilateral con-genital cataract in a series of 31 patients who were operated before 15 years of age. The cases were divided into two groups: one with nystagmus and the other without nystagmus at the time of surgery. Factors which might affect the visual prognosis wereevaluated for each group.

The group without nystagmus (16 cases), the onset of which was generally late, rarely manifested ocular abnormalities other than cataract and result-ed in good visual prognosis even if cataract surgery and correction for aphakia were performed at an advanced age.
