九州大学医学部限科および皮膚科において最近11年間に経験した12例の眼瞼の毛母細胞腫について，臨床的および病理組織学的に検討した。
本腫瘍の発生は9歳までが3分の2を占め，また女性が男性の3倍であり，すべて上眼瞼にみられた。大きさは直径10mm前後の硬い腫瘍で，皮膚との癒着は認められるが，下部組織との癒着はなかった。
病理組織学的には好塩基細胞と陰影細胞からなる特徴的な病像を呈し，4分の3の症例に石灰化を伴っていた。また1例には類表皮嚢胞との合併がみられた。
発生起源としては，成熟した毛母細胞より発生すると考えるより，毛母細胞への分化を示す未熟な上皮芽細胞より発生すると考えられた。
We made a clinical and histopathological study in 12 cases with pilomatrixoma of the eyelids. Two-thirds of the cases were 9 years of age. Three-fourths of the cases were females. All the lesions were located in the upper eyelid.
Histologically, islands were composed of two types of cells : basophilic and shadow cells. Cal-cium deposits in the tumor mass were found in 9of the 12 cases. Epidermoid cyst was present as an associated feature in one case.
The tumor seemed to have originated from primitive epithelial cells which differentiated to-wards die hair matrix cells.
