Fundus findings associated with pheochromocytoma

緒言

　Pheochromocytoma （以下PC．と略記）は，高血圧を主徴とする重篤な症状を呈し，早晩，死に至る可能性が強く，然も，腫瘍の剔出に成功すれば，劇的に軽快し得る興味ある疾患である。

　PC．らしい報告はFraenkel氏（1889）により，確認の報告はLabbe氏（1922）により，生前に正しい診断を下されたものはVaquez氏及びDonzelot氏（1926）によるといわれ，更に，腫瘍の剔出に初めて成功したのは，Mayo氏（1927）或はPincoff氏（1926）であるとされている。以来，諸外国では数百にのぼる報告がある。

The author observed a case of pheochromocytoma in the adrenal medulla with retinal changes.

1) 20 year old male who had been suffering from hypertension, headache, tachycardia and blurred vision for about one and a half year.

Right fundus ; There were found arteriolar narrowing, papilledema, small hard exudates, and, in the deeper layer of the retina, diffuse pigmentation colored by deep green andbrown tone.

Hemorrhages and cotton wool patches were not present. The peripheral portion of the retina was almost normal.

These findings were just like Coats' disease.

Left fundus ; There were only a few hard exudates.
