I．緒言

　1949年Hench及びKendall等により，リウマチ性疾患に対するコーチゾンの驚異的な効果が発表せられて以来，眼科領域に於いても各種疾患に対するその応用は目ざましいものがある。然も近年，副腎皮質ホルモンの改良研究は日進月歩，次々と新ステロイドの合成が行われ，Hydroco-rtisone （以下H．）次いでPrednisone，Pre-dnisolone （以下P．）が現在旺んに使用せられるまでに到つた。

　Prednisoloneは1954年Herzog等により合成せられ，糖質効果，抗炎症作用はH．の約4倍に増強されており，而もその塩類作用は却つて少いことが判明している。

In succession to previous reports which had showed the anti-inflammatory effect of several adrenal cortical hormones by utilizing them on the experimental corneal wound, the wound recovery effect of predonine and medrol was examined and the following results were obtained.

These two steroid hormones showed a remarkable restraint on the recovery of corneal wound, and medrol had aslight advantage over predonine in this restraining effect or anti-inflammatory effect. The difference in the effects of the two hormones was not significant.
