滲出性網膜炎は眼底に特有な滲出物，血管変状，出血等を認める疾患で，1908年Coatsにより始めて詳細なる記載がなされた。
以後本症はCoats氏病とも呼ばれ，数多くの報告が見られるが，その本態に関しては，現在尚明らかでない。従つて又確実な治療法はなく，遂には病変が網膜全体に及び，更に虹彩炎や続発性緑内障等を併発して，失明することが多く，予後は絶対に不良と考えられている。
A woman aged 21, of Retinitis exsudativa with lacalized exsudation, retinal detachment and vascular changes in temporal inferior part of the right eye, was treated with the combination of diathery coagulation and subretinal injection of hydrocortisone.
After one year and a half, those changes disappered remarkably, except for the slight retinal opacities, and the visual field enlarged again.
