I．緒言

　1933年頃よりKendall，Reichstein等が副腎皮質ホルモンの化学的研究を行い極めて多数のステロイドホルモンが結晶として抽出された。その後Hench等が臨床的にCompound E （コーチゾン）の慢性リウマチに対する卓効を報告して以来，俄然重要視されるに至つた。次いでCompo-und F （ハイドロコーチゾン）が強い抗炎症性作用，抗アレルギー性作用を有する副腎皮質ホルモンの1つとして，コーチゾンより更に強く，且つ広範囲に効果を有すものとして注目されている。

　眼科領域においては，1951年池田教授の綜説発表以来，諸報告例相次ぎ，抗生物質に優るとも劣らず重用されている。ところで眼瞼炎，眼瞼縁炎は一見簡単に思われる疾患ではあるが，諸種の治療に執拗な抵抗を示すものが多い。之等の疾患に対するコーチゾン療法は，文献的に見ても充分であるとは云えない現状である。

The author applied Cortocin ointment (hydrophilic ointment of 10 mg/g hydrocortisone acetate) to the treatment of 20 patients, that is, 6 of allergic or eczematous blepharitis, 8 of sycosiform blepharitis ciliaris, and 6 of seborrheal blepharitis ciliaris. As a result the author got considerable effects for nearly all the cases, and then most of all got well within a week or so.

The effects of treatment for itch were paticularly remarkable. Cortocin ointment was also effective for healing some relapse cases of the above mentioned patients and produced no ill reaction attributing to the application of this ointment.
