The Evaluation and the Classification of Retinitis Pigmentosa by Y-Coodinate

緒言

　網膜色素変性の病因を検討する場合に，その患者の集団が同一病因によつて，発病しているのかという問題に直面して病因の解析を複雑かつ困難にしている。

　遺伝学的な立場から，本症を分類した場合，優性遣伝型，劣性遺伝型，伴性劣性遺伝型の3型に分類されるから^1），少なくとも3種類以上発生機序の異なつた型の網膜色素変性が存在することが考えられる。しかしながら実際には発病時期，病歴，経過，合併症，症候群の一症候としての網膜色素変性等考慮すると，一層複雑な病因の分類が考えられる。

The authors attempted to evaluate and cla-ssify the visual function of retinitis pigmentosa by Y-coodinate. The method enabled to classify retinitis pigmentosa subjects into 5 patterns according to the visual function : α-, β- γ-, δ-and_ε-type.

Cases of retinitis pigmentosa belonging to the α-type show slightly impaired visual acuity with severely affected dark adaptation and vi-sual field. The affection of dark adaptation is less severe in cases belonging to β-type. In cases belonging to γ-type, visual acuity, dark adaptation and visual field are affected to an equal level.
