緒言

　交感性眼炎のさい，脈絡膜内の炎症に伴い網膜色素上皮層に細胞が結節状に増殖したいわゆるFuchs-Dalén巣（以下F-D巣と略す）は，検眼鏡的には眼底の白色斑として認められる。組織学的には主として脈絡膜内のいわゆる類上皮細胞に酷似した細胞によつて構成されるが，その意義もまた微細構造もいまだ解明されていない。本来，網膜色素上皮細胞層は色素顆粒を保有する一層の上皮細胞によつて構成されているが，ここにみられるF-D巣の形成に色素上皮細胞が直接関与しているとすれば，この部において脱色素現象を含む色素細胞の諸変化の過程が観察されるわけである。

　以上の観点からわれわれは今回F-D巣の微細構造，特に色素上皮細胞の変化の状況について観察したので報告する。

With particular reference to the changes in the pigment epithelial cells of the retina, the fine structure of the so-called Dalén-Fuchs no-dules found at the periphery of the fundus in sympathetic ophthalmis was studied with ele-ctron microscope.

The superficial layer of the nodule consists chiefly of pigment epithelial cells, in which remarkable morphological alterations can be observed. Pigment epithelial cells swell and lose their numerous cytoplasmic projections at the apical surface. Pigment granules in the cells decrease in number and finally disappear.
