視力に対する視標と視線とのなす角度の影響

Dependence of Visual Acuity upon the Angle between the Optotype and Line of Vision

I．緒言

　学校保健における視力の問題は，生徒の眼の屈折状態，調節状態，読書距離，照明，教材の活字の大小，字劃，黒板に書かれる字の問題その他，眼科方面においてもつとも活発に議論されているところであるが，戦後，一般の生活環境の改善，生徒の食生活，体位の変化，眼科学会における仮性近視，弱視に対する研究の長足の進歩などに伴つて，戦前とは異る観点よりの研究が益々盛んになつた。

　大島氏^1）らは視力を論ずる場合の基礎ともなるべき試視力表の改善に多くの業績を残しており，油井^12）13），伊藤^3）9）．篠田^5），樋渡氏^10）らは，またそれぞれの角度から，視力というものに検討を加えている。しかし，同一距離において，被験者の視線と，視標のなす角度によつて生ずる対象の「見やすさ」「見にくさ」を論じたものは現在のところでは，樋渡氏が黒板に書かれた文字と座席の位置並びに視力との関係をアンケート式に統計，観察したものより他に，類似する研究はおこなわれていないようである。著者は，今回，被験者の視線と視標とのなす角度（一定距離）によつて視標がいかに見えにくくなるかを追求した。これは実用面にあつては，教室の机の配置，黒板面と生徒の座席との距離をはじめとし，黒板の形状などについての問題に資料を提供するものである。

Maximal visual acuity is obtained when the optotype is observed from the front, i.e.when the angle between the plane of opto-type and the line of vision is 90 degrees. The apparent visual acuity becomes particularly poorer when the angle becomes less than 62.5 degrees, probably due to the abnormal refrac-tion of light from the optotype. Due conside-ration of above phenomenon is necessary in placing the seats of students is schools, is selecting the right kind of blackboard to be used and in the determination of proper lightening of school-rooms.
