戰爭神經症が心因によつて起る事は，第一次世界大戰の經驗によつて確立された事實であるが，其の際，神經症は意識的な詐病であるとする見解と，意識下の心理過程によつて起るとする見解との論爭があり，後者が一般に認められる所となつて今日に至つた。
併し乍ら，神經症，殊に轉換ヒステリーは症状の虚構性が著明で，詐病を疑わせる例のある事も周知の所であり，此の症状の虚構性は詐病と同じく意識的心理的過程に基くのではないかを疑わせるものがある。
Two cases of malingering of neurological symptom (one hemiplegia and hypaesthesia, the other deafness), found in war neurotics, are reported.
1. The malingering is diagnosed based upon their own confessions.
2. The personality of the malingerers is hy-sterical.
3. The symptom of malingering is undisting-uishable from that of war neurosis.
4. In view of the pathogenesis, the mechan-ism of malingering is conscious and that of neurosis is unconscious, they should, however, be able to be shifted reciprocally.
5. The hysterical symptom is fabricated par-tly due to the conscious intention of the pati-ent.
