　患者：K. H.，58歳，男．

　16年前より毎年1回，某職域の成人病検診の一環として遠隔テレビによる胃検診を受けていた．

　1979年2月，例年のようにスクリーニングとしてのX線テレビ検査を受けたところ，linitis plastica疑と診断され，内視鏡および生検施行，原発巣と思われる所より印環細胞癌と診断され，ⅡcまたはⅡc似進行癌として手術を施行した．

　A 58 year-old male had received annual radiographic examinations of the stomach. It was impossible to detect linitis plastica even though the conclusive diagnosis was cancer.

　It was also impossible to precisely determine the extent of linitis plastica by radiography and endoscopy even though cancer was confirmed by biopsy.

　The raw resected specimen gave no clues as to where the initial lesion of the Linitis plastica was.

　Despite the comparatively large area of cancerous erosion on the surface of resected specimen, the radiogram taken 13 months before the operation only revealed a tiny and vague barium fleck on the posterior wall of the corpus.
