We report a 78-year-old Japanese female patient with 3 years history of a subepidermal nodule on the right lumbar. Physical examination revealed a slightly raised, firm and painful nodule of 25*30 mm in size. Blood tests were not unusual. This nodular skin lesion was evaluated with computed tomography, indicating a high concentration region in the subcutaneous fat. Histopathological findings showed in the subcutaneous tissue masses of calcium deposition surrounded by fibrous tissue. This patient had neither hypercalcemia nor hyperphosphatemia and showed no underlying diseases. So, we diagnosed as tumoral calcinosis. Tumoral calcinosis is classified into the idiopathic calcinosis cutis. The mechanism of the calcification is still unclear. 6 months have passed after excision, but it does not recur. Because tumoral calcinosis is known to be prone to recurrence, we should continue with the follow-up observations have to a regular observation.
