The general condition of children in the perioperative period can change rapidly, and treatment should be adjusted to these patients’ rapid changes. Clinicians should assess a patient’s general condition quickly and accurately to adjust the treatment. A physical assessment alone is not sufficiently accurate, and a detailed examination and its results can take a significant amount of time. In such cases, point of care ultrasound(POCUS)may be helpful;however, POCUS is simply the means of inspection. There is no POCUS technique that is applied specifically for children, and in pediatric advanced life support(PALS)cases it is therefore important to include POCUS in a systematic approach to the assessment of the patient’s general condition.
