Nodular fasciitis is a benign tumor-like soft tissue lesion that exhibits idiopathically proliferating fibroblasts in the deep subcutaneous layer, the muscular fascia, and/or the intramuscular layer. With the recent proliferation of PET/CT scans, nodular fasciitis have been mistakenly reported as a malignant or metastatic tumor. We report a case of nodular fasciitis with an incidental abnormal 18F-FDG accumulation in the right femur on a PET/CT scan performed to detect metastasis in a 49-year-old man with right temporal squamous cell carcinoma.
