An ectopic nail is a very rare disease entity in which a fingernail or toenail grows in other places than the nail bed. Most ectopic nails are congenital; the acquired variety is less commonly seen. We present the case details of a post-traumatic ectopic nail after abdominal flap reconstruction. A 28-year-old male presented with a gradually growing mass in his left handʼs smallest finger. He had a history of a left-hand degloving injury treated with an abdominal flap at 7 years before this presentation. On physical examination he had a 15 × 15 mm mass resembling an epidermal cyst, and a computed tomography examination revealed a subcutaneous curved high-density area in the fingertip. With the diagnosis of ectopic nail, a complete excision of the mass was performed. The patient described a satisfactory cosmetic outcome and showed no evidence of recurrence after 1 year of follow-up.
