Treatment of a pigmented nevus over a wide area typically involves the expansion of normal skin using an expander, and the skin defect area obtained after the removal of nevus is covered with the expanded skin. Multiple expanders may be placed in various locations simultaneously. Herein, we present the case of a patient who presented to our hospital with a giant pigmented nevus. The patient had expanders in two locations, one in the lower abdomen and the other in the left anterior chest. The expander placed in the left anterior chest ruptured while stretching the skin. The expander contains physiological saline and thus breakage causes the developed skin to shrink again. During reconstructive surgery, the damaged expander from the left anterior chest was removed, and an intact expander from the lower abdomen was inserted into the space. We then tried to collect as much skin as possible from the left anterior chest by keeping the expander inflated while other parts of the body were being operated on prior to surgery on the anterior chest. Results will be discussed in the manuscript.
