We tested the detectability of FDG uptake for small nodules among different generations of PET systems. The latest, 64sl-PETCT with time of flight(TOFPET), conventional 16sl-PETCT(16PET), and PET alone were employed for direct comparisons. Recovery coefficient(RC)of F-18 was measured for hot and cold spheres(size from 3.95 to 31.27 mm)in Jaszczak phantom. In hot sphere analysis, RC was preserved down to size of 6.23 mm in TOFPET while it reduced remarkably in 16PET and PET alone. Cold sphere analysis showed improved in RC up to size of 7.86 mm compared to other systems. In latest TOFPET system, detectability of small nodule was improved to former generations of PET systems.
