Lesion enhancement techniques of digital chest X-ray images

我が国の多くの医療施設では単純X線撮影はアナログ画像（フィルムスクリーン法）からデジタル画像（フラットパネル，CRなど）への移行がほぼ終了し，画像読影もモニタを用いて行うことが一般的になっている。デジタル化に伴って，ダイナミックレンジ圧縮などの画像処理技術による画質の改善が行われているほか，病院内の画像の管理が容易になり，地域ネットワーク化を通じた画像の共有化も実用段階に入っている。

Among several digital chest X-Ray（CXR）techniques, virtual grid（VG）, temporal subtraction（TS）, and bone suppression（BS）are the most promising and desirable for enhancement of lung lesions. VG reduces scattering and derives high contrast images especially on portable CXR in wards. TS erase all the background other than time interval changes of CXR by subtraction between previous and current images. BS erase bone images from CXR to increase contrast of lung lesions. BS is also useful for pediatric lung disease. Understanding of these techniques are useful for radiologist in daily clinical diagnosis scenes
