Thoughts of mothers who had their first child attend delivery of the second child

目的

　第2子の出産に上の子どもを立ち会わせた母親の思いを明らかにする。

対象と方法

　研究デザインは、質的記述的研究である。出産に上の子どもを立ち会わせた母親5名に、半構成的面接を実施。逐語録から母親の思いを分析した。

結果

　妊娠中は≪子どもにとって出産立ち会いは貴重な体験になる≫≪子どもの気持ちを大切にしたい≫≪夫に対する期待≫≪自己実現≫という4つのカテゴリーが、出産中は≪成長した子どもを感じた≫≪いつものようには考えられない≫と≪夫と子ども以外には立ち会わせたくない≫という3つのカテゴリーが抽出された。出産後は≪出産に立ち会ったことは子どもに貴重な体験≫≪立ち会わせて本当に良かった≫の2つのカテゴリーが抽出された。

結論

　母親は子どもを立ち会わせることに多くの期待をし、同時に子どもに様々な準備をしていた。出産中は子どもの成長を感じていた。出産後は、立ち会わせた事に大変満足し、子どもに貴重な体験であったと思っていた。

Objective:

　To clarify the thoughts of mothers who had their first child attend delivery of the second child.

Subjects and Methods:

　The subject is 5 mothers who had their first child attend delivery of the second child. After childbirth, the half-structured interviews were performed with them. Using a word-for-word record, their thoughts were extracted, and the extracted data were coded and categorized according to each of the semantic contents.

Results:

　The following 9 major-categories were extracted:-

　-　For the period during pregnancy, 1)Attending delivery will become great experience for the child. 2)I want to respect child's emotion. 3)Expectation for husband. 4)Self-actualization.

　-　For the period during delivery; 1)I felt the child growing up. 2)I can not think in the same way as usual. 3)I want to have nobody attend delivery except the husband and child.

　-　For the period after birth, 1)Attending delivery is great experience for the child. 2)I am very happy to have had the child attend delivery.

Conclusion:

　The mothers had expected much about having their child attend delivery and given preparatory knowledge to the child beforehand. During delivery, the mothers felt the child growing up. After childbirth, they were quite happy to have had the child attend delivery and thought that it was great experience for the child. As a whole, the mothers who have had their first child attend delivery of the second child were happy and satisfied.
