 The aim of this study was to qualitatively describe the usefulness of the teaching materials on pathophysiology used in an educational program conceptualized for the purpose of developing the clinical reasoning of nursing students. The results revealed five categories that can be used to describe the role of the teaching materials in clinical reasoning development: 1) facilitating assessment of patients' physiological processes; 2) facilitating consistent thinking from assessment to nursing planning; 3) helping nursing care planning incorporate potential future changes; 4) facilitating to think focusing on both disease and lifestyle; and 5) helping to learn related content necessary for nursing development. It can be inferred that the use of the teaching materials applied in this study assists students in following through with the clinical reasoning cycle. In conclusion, it is implied that these teaching materials may be useful in developing the clinical reasoning of nursing students.
