Quality of Life for Family Members of Mentally Ill People

要旨

　本研究は, 精神障害者の家族員のQuality of Life (QOL) の維持・向上をめざした支援を検討するために, 267名の精神障害者家族会会員を対象に, ソーシャルサポート, 患者の社会生活技能, 不安・抑うつ, QOLの因果関係について検討した. その結果, ソーシャルサポートと患者の社会生活技能が不安・抑うつの基礎となり, その不安・抑うつがQOLを規定するとともに, ソーシャルサポートがQOLを規定する因果モデルが支持された. そして, 決定係数は, 不安・抑うつに対し0.22, QOLに対し0.44であった. 以上のことから, 数量的な根拠に基づいた家族の支援の手がかりが示唆された．

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine social support, patients' social skills, anxiety and depression, and the Quality of Life (QOL) among 267 family members of mentally ill people in order to help maintain and enhance the QOL of family members. The results appeared to show a causal model between social support, patients' social skills, and anxiety and depression which were associated with QOL. Also, it was found that there was a direct connection between social support and QOL. The coefficient of determination was 0.22 for anxiety and depression, and 0.44 for the QOL. These findings suggest several potential nursing interventions.
