We investigated 12 stroke patients with right hemiplegia, 7 with ideomotor apraxia (AP group) and 5 without (NAP group). The patients were required to transform and integrate sensory modality information of body image using visual, somatosensory and auditory senses. The tasks were made up of 93 items in 9 areas. The results mainly showed that the percentage of the correct responses in the somatosensory information tasks was significantly less in the AP group than the NAP group, suggesting that disorders in transforming and integrating capacity of sensory modality information may be one underlying factor of ideomotor apraxia.
