We performed the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) and a time use survey in a patient living at home for about 2 years after being diagnosed as having rheumatoid arthritis. She spent about 70% of her time on housekeeping. An occupational therapist devised a plan and gave instructions on shortening the housekeeping time. As a result, housekeeping time was reduced by 7.5 hours, and the daily energy consumption was also reduced by about 1,000kcal. She achieved a comfortable life while performing housekeeping tasks. Effective intervention methods could also be achieved by outpatient training.
