The purpose of this study was to determine useful occupational therapy for the rehabilitation of elderly lower limb amputees. Our results suggest that useful rehabilitation clarifies the exact role of physical therapy. Occupational therapy using the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) was found to be useful for helping create a concrete image. Our approach comprised training for activities of daily living (ADL) with the hip disarticulation prosthesis both on and off, instrumental ADL (IADL) training, psychological and social counseling. The result showed improvement in ADL・IADL capability, and quality of life(QOL). Subjects for future study include intervention from an early stage for self-care and changes in life style, as well as support after leaving hospital.
