海外研究留学は医師人生において有意義な時間である。ただし，研究業績や助成金などの準備が必要であり，それらには数年を要することが多い。自分の人生において，どの時期に留学するかを早くから計画し，それに向けて準備を徐々に開始することをおすすめする。また，留学中，時間を有意義なものにできるかは，上手なスケジューリングと日々それを全うする努力を怠らないことにかかっている。そのためには，留学前に掲げた長期的な目標に向かって，日々の進捗，週単位の進捗を明確にしていくべきである。毎回の研究カンファレンスは自分の報告の内容のみならず，英語の質にも注意するなど丁寧な準備を心掛けることが効果的な自己研鑽のために重要である。

It is important to commit to daily and weekly progress when working toward long-term goals. For effective self-improvement, make careful preparation, paying attention not only to the content of your reports but also to English at each research conference.
