2020年4月，聖マリアンナ医科大学横浜市西部病院では患者・職員合わせて80名という新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の院内感染を経験し，約1.5か月の病院機能の停止を余儀なくされた。この経験から我々が得た教訓は，COVID-19の院内感染は医療体制に多大な影響を及ぼすため，“Zero tolerance”を目標に，一例も院内感染を許さない徹底した感染管理を組織として実践していくことが重要であるということだ。今回の院内感染の概要と，院内感染を収束させた手段，現在も行っている再発予防策などを文献的考察も交えて記述する。

In April 2020, there were 80 nosocomial infections among patients and healthcare workers in our hospital, leading to shutdown of the hospital for over a month and a half. This manuscript presents an outline of the nosocomial outbreak, measures taken to contain the outbreak, and a narrative review of the available literature for infection prevention and control （IPC） of COVID-19. COVID-19 nosocomial infections have a great impact on health care facilities. Therefore, strict implementation of IPC is imperative with a “zero tolerance” goal for nosocomial infections.
