The role of an ICU nurse during a disaster is to identify a life-threatening condition due to a disaster, protect the lives of patients undergoing treatment such as receiving support from machines and drugs, and improve the quality of life in that situation. In the event of a disaster, a large number of critically ill patients may be admitted, and if the chronic phase of the disaster or stabilization of the situation enables surgery, the perioperative management of surgical patients will be managed in the ICU, and the role of the ICU Is important. In order to care for patients in the ICU, nurses are very important. In particular, if the ICU has expanded capacity, the support of nursing staff from outside the ICU is required. ICU nurses need to conduct nursing activities while providing guidance and education to support staff. ICU nurses also need mental support since they are greatly affected by the changing situation during a disaster.
