The present study explored the relationship between life satisfaction and biographical work in middle-aged working men on chronic dialysis. Based on theory of illness trajectory and theory of symbolic interaction, it was hypothesized that biographical work which indi-viduals make to understand the implications of their chronic illness and to make adjustment to their life plan would affect their life satisfaction. The data were col-lected using a questionnaire comprised of the Scale for Biography Recasting developed by the author, the Scale for Constructed Meaning of Illness translated by the author.
