 The purpose of this study was to clarify why elderly patients Visit their favorite clinic. The data was collected at the one of orthopedic clinic in Tokyo. Twenty-one patients were interviewed and observed. Grounded Theory was used for data, analysis.

 The six reasons of their visiting were clarilied. They want to 1) take medical treatments, 2) have physician's advice, about short term goal, 3) have a sense of security in a case of emergency, 4) visit, the clinic as daily tusk, 5) get new/useful information. and 6) share their time/place with other patients.

 Through choosing the service. human relationship, and other environments, they developed their, autonomy. The autonomy includes 2 categories : 1) to take action to be existence in the community, 2) to accept their aging.

 The meaning of their visiting clinic was related to confirm and assure their existence named “IGAI”.
