Breast cauces stem cell

正常幹細胞と同様に癌においても，自己複製能や多分化能など幹細胞の性質を併せもつ癌幹細胞によって癌が維持される，癌幹細胞仮説が注目されている．現在まで様々な癌腫において癌幹細胞の分離同定が進められてきたが，固形癌で最初に癌幹細胞の存在が報告されたのは本稿で述べる乳癌であり，CD44(＋)/CD24(－)の分画が腫瘍形成能，自己複製能など幹細胞の性質を有することが報告された．本稿では乳癌におけるCD抗原を含めた様々な癌幹細胞の検出方法について概説し，最後に幹細胞を標的とした治療に関する最近の知見について述べたい．

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) were identified in several malignant tumors based on expression of cell surface markers or the efflux ability of Hoechst 33342 dye.　Breast CSCs are characterized by CD44 expression and CD24 expression (CD44＋CD24－/low).　These CSCs form non-adherent spherical clusters under selective culture conditions and have other specific properties compared to the bulk tumor cells.　Here, we described both approaches for detecting breast CSCs and their potential to target breast CSC.
