  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Four cases of cervical node metastases of unknown origin who survived longer than 10 years were reported. The reasons of good prognosis in these four cases were analysed clinically and pathologically. The retrospective histopathological examinations showed that one of these four cases, which had been treated as metastatic cervical carcinoma, had carcinoma of the salivary gland. Emphasis is laid on the need of the total removal of the cervical mass for an exact histologic diagnosis to distinguish metastatic from primary carcinoma in the neck, in the cases that cervical lymph node metastases from unknown primary was suspected.
