Lesions in the larynx cause a variety of symptoms such as dyspnea, stridor, hoarseness, dysphagia, pain during swallowing and an abnormal sensation in the throat.

Diseases with primary lesion at the epiglottis, in particular, frequently cause dysphagia, which may be as mild as to be felt as an abnormal sensation in the throat or as severe as inability to swallow. It occasionally and rapidly progress to a serious condition such as dyspnea, and it is necessary to describe the laryngeal findings completely, institute a suitable treatment, and observe the course carefully.

We described 6 cases with primary lesion located at the epiglottis, i.e., inflammatory epiglottic edema, acute epiglottitis, epiglottic abscess, laryngeal tuberculosis, epiglottic cyst and laryngeal cancer.
