The surgical technique for removal of various sized acoustic tumors, small, medium and large, is briefly described. Although surgical approach must be determined according to the size of the tumor, in some cases a second stage operations are necessary. In neuro-otologic surgery the surgeon is constantly faced with a problem in selecting the type of operation according to the size of the tumor and in which that requires a second stage operation because the size of the tumor being larger than that which was anticipated or difficult to exterpate.

Under these circumstances, the authors have combined the methods of Morrison and King and that of Bochenek and Kukwa for removal of large tumors.

The authors have modified the Morrison's method by first exposing the temporal lobe by elevating the bone flap instead of drilling out the mastoid. And, also extended Bochenek's approach by removing the whole labyrinth until the posterior fossa dura and sigmoid sinus are exposed.
