  • Look Inside

A morbidity survey in otolaryngology was conducted covering 15 different outlying districts, where no medical facilities existed, in Ishikawa Prefecture in October and November,1968.

The population of these areas are reported to he 130,000. Eight hundred and twenty four people were regeistered at the clinic, which was free of any charge; this number was slightly less than what was expected.

By age-group, children and those in old age made up the majority while, those in the so-called productive age group were only a few in number, a condition reflecting the state of population with seasonal difference.

Eighty percent of the people were found suffering from some sort of otolaryngological troubles, yet none had sought any medical aid due to the lack in the means of transportation.
