  • Look Inside

There were 24 cases of hearing loses due to electric shock which were selected from among 2,325 case histories of patients who came for hearing tests for deafness in the past 9 years. 16 cases of them were accompanied with head trauma, and in other 6 cases it was found to be other complications. Two cases were excluded from this because of other historical facts. Therefore pure case due to only the electric shock was found in one patient, who had complete deafness of unilateral ear. The central hearing disturbances were presumed through the above threshold measurements. By means of compare the frequency of the worst threshold with the frequency matched to the tinnitus, the tinnitus following electric shock appeared to be more complicated than that following the head trauma, but less so than that following the traumatic otitis media. However, these observations seemed to be not altogether satisfactory because of the small number of case thus, examined.
