Operative treatments of poly- and pan-sin-usitis are discussed by differentiating the methods into those which effect a complete denudation of the pathological sinus mucous membrane and in others in which the sinuses in part are given a simple opening and drai-nage. Each method in considered and comme-nted and its advantages as well as disadvan-tages are discussed. Attention is given to De Lima's transmaxillary polysinusectomy and Tato's frontal sinus operation in which the lat-ter effects filling of the sinus cavity with fatty tissues. These methods could hardly be. adopted as a general measure excepting in special cases where such a procedure may be called for. This is also true in considering Ogino's perfrontal sinusectomy though he had. made a great contribution;it is far from ap-plicability in all operative cases. The author further discusses the problem of aftercare fo-llowing the operation, chemotherapy and the relation of the individual's general physical co-ndition that may lead to sinusitis.
