The degree of articulation was tested with prepared test-words at a set rate in 171 students of the deaf and dumb school. Individualreponses were recorded in taperecords ; these records were each played back to a person of normal hearing for clearness of dilivery and rated according to their results. Fowler's classification of word-hearing F: 100% and F: 70%, was used. In the age group belonging to second year High School F: 100% numbered 21.5%, sixth year Primary Grades 11.3% and third year Primary Grades 9.7%. It was obvious that as the individual grew older the speech-words became clearer in dilivery.
